About Us

The IPG Approach to Counseling & Psychotherapy
“My therapist became a trusted coach and adviser, as well as a psychological expert, during a pretty bad time in my life. It was great to have her in my corner.” – Alison, 43, ‘divorce survivor ’

What makes us different

At IPG, we view our clients as collaborators in the therapy process. But effective therapy isn’t just about feeling connected to your counselor  – specific techniques and skills are important too. We have a great mix of licensed experienced psychotherapists who are trained in a wide variety of special skills.  Examples of some of these skills and techniques are:

  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
  • AASECT-certified Sex Therapy
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Gottman Couples Counseling
  • EMDR for help with trauma
  • Emotionally Focused Treatment for couples (EFT)
  • Solution Focused/Brief Therapy approaches
  • Imago Couples Counseling
  • Interpersonal and Psychodynamic Therapy
  • Mindfulness Meditation techniques
  • Attachment Theory approaches

To keep our therapists up-to-date with the latest techniques and approaches in psychotherapy, we sponsor continuing education classes for our staff several times a year.  We take pride in being cutting-edge in our professional expertise and we walk with you as fellow humans on your journey: your pains and joys become ours.  That’s why many of our clients stay in contact with us and continue to refer their friends and families to us long after they’ve left our doors.

Our psychotherapy and counseling mental health practice has three offices located in Highland Park, Jersey City, and Freehold, New Jersey.

FAQs about Therapy

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. All sessions are confidential within the limits of the law. Our therapists will review confidentiality policies and answer any questions during your initial visit.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. IPG provides both in-person and teletherapy options to accommodate clients’ schedules and needs.

Can I use insurance for therapy?

We accept many insurance plans and can provide guidance on coverage and out-of-pocket costs. Our team will help you navigate benefits and determine the most cost-effective approach.

What should I expect during my first session?

Your first session is an opportunity to get to know your therapist, discuss your concerns and goals, and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. We focus on building trust and establishing a comfortable environment.

How long does therapy take?

The duration of therapy varies depending on your goals, needs, and progress. Some clients benefit from short-term therapy, while others engage in longer-term support.
