We develop a "program of treatment" for each person that includes emotional, cognitive, physical, medical and, at times, spiritual perspectives. We begin by making a person-to-person connection, noting your strengths and skills as well as your problems.
It has been said that the expert therapist "follows her client, one step ahead". You must guide your own journey. Our job is to use our skills to help get you where you want to go.
We're active therapists. We'll give you honest, direct feedback and both technical and practical coaching, if necessary. And we're not afraid to reveal personal experiences when that is appropriate, too.

This is what a therapist needs to offer clients: compassion and empathy as a supportive witness; honesty and openess as a fellow human; committment to excellence as a professional.
The IPG Approach
What makes us different
At IPG, we view our clients as our peers and collaborators. We've all had our share of life problems, and we've all needed to ask someone else for help at times. So we know how much courage it takes to own your own issues and ask for assistance from a stranger. IPG therapists approach their clients as "skilled equals". Our trademarks are openness, compassion and acceptance of all lifestyles, backgrounds, and beliefs.
But therapy isn't just about feeling connected to your counselor - specific techniques and skills are important too. So we are trained, for example, in Imago and Gottman Couples Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and Mindfulness Meditation techniques, EMDR and Hypnotherapy. Many of us are Certified Sex Therapists. We have a Certified School Psychologist on staff while others have Certifications in Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling or in Divorce Mediation and Parenting Coordination. We take pride in being cutting-edge in our professional expertise.
Therapy involves a unique relationship. In a very real sense, we walk with you as fellow humans on your journey, and your pains and joys become ours. That's why many of our clients stay in contact with us and continue to refer their friends and families to us long after they've left our doors.
Our psychotherapy and wellness practice has offices conveniently located in New Jersey and New York City.
